Judge Brian M. McCarthy
Dear Concerned Citizen,
Thank you for visiting my website to learn more about my candidacy for Monroe County Court judge.
I consider being a judge to be the culmination of my almost three decades in public service and a position of high honor. I am committed to maintaining and building upon the trust that our citizens have in our system of justice by treating everyone fairly and with respect. At the same time, those found guilty must be held accountable for their actions.
County Court is important because it deals with some of the most serious crimes committed in our community, ranging from burglary and assault to serious drug crimes, to domestic violence and homicides. In other words, many of the cases you read about in the newspaper are dealt with in County Court. It’s essential that County Court judges have the knowledge and experience to effectively carry out the duties of this critical job. Prior to becoming your County Court Judge, I had a nearly 30-year career as a Monroe County prosecutor and Assistant U.S. Attorney. In every aspect of my long legal career, I have been an independent, non-political officer of the court. I feel very strongly that the courts must rise above politics, and an independent judiciary is the backbone of our American system of justice. I am proud to have already earned the support of organizations representing many law enforcement agencies and the labor community – and my campaign volunteers have been recruited across a broad spectrum of our county. In addition, I was honored with the highest rating given by the Monroe County Bar Association.
This is an important election for the future of Monroe County Courts. It is my deep honor to be your Monroe County Court Judge.
Please take a moment to learn a bit more about my record. I hope that you will reach out to me with any questions you may have. I would be proud to have your vote in November.
Sincerely,
Brian M. McCarthy
